Lucky 7

San Diego pop punk band Lucky 7 formed in 1997

Lucky 7 were a pop punk band from San Diego, California, formed in 1997. They started out the classic way: write songs, hit the road, and put out a record on their own before anyone was handing out contracts.

How The Band Got Started

The band formed in 1997 and quickly got to work recording and playing shows. In 1998 they independently released their first record, Miss Fortune, and kept building a following through touring and word of mouth.

Momentum, Tours, and the Label Era

Lucky 7 spent the next few years doing what pop punk bands do best: staying busy. They toured with acts including New Found Glory, Something Corporate, Pink, and Good Charlotte, and they picked up extra attention online through a strong download rate on MP3.com.

That momentum helped lead to a deal with Shock Records and Omega Records. In 2002, the band released their self-titled label debut, Lucky7, before calling it a day not long after.

Breakup and What Came Next

The group disbanded in 2003. Afterward, members stayed active in music and moved into different paths. Allen Colaneri went on to projects including Lances Hero and ItalianJapanese, and later became the owner and operator of the Blonde Bar in San Diego. Robert Garbowski played drums in a band called Sweettooth. Jared Hren played in the Los Angeles drum group Street Drum Corps and also played drums in the United States lineup of Guana Batz. Steven Press moved to Colorado and worked in law enforcement in the Denver area.
