Ace Troubleshooter
Ace Troubleshooter, often known simply as Ace, was an American pop punk band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Formed in December 1995, the band quickly made a name for themselves in the pop punk scene and released five albums through Tooth & Nail Records before disbanding in 2005.
Background
Ace Troubleshooter was founded in Minneapolis and gained early attention in 1996 after winning a national battle of the bands competition sponsored by Sam Goody. The band’s name was inspired by the phrase “ace troubleshooter,” which frontman John Warne came across in a history book.
The band’s lineup saw several changes over the years. Initially a three-piece with John Warne (vocals/guitar), Josh Abbott (drums), and Matt Pacyga (bass), the band expanded to a four-piece in 1998 with the addition of Isaac Deaton on guitar. Despite the various lineup shifts, Warne and Abbott remained the core members until the band’s dissolution.
Relient K was often referred to as a “brother band” to Ace Troubleshooter. The two bands toured together frequently, and their members were close friends. Relient K’s drummer, Dave Douglas, briefly played guitar for Ace, and Warne later joined Relient K as their bassist after Ace Troubleshooter disbanded.
The band officially broke up in February 2005, with Warne moving on to join Relient K and Abbott going on to play in My Red Hot Nightmare.
