Against All Authority
Against All Authority (often abbreviated as AAA) is an American punk rock band known for their politically charged lyrics and their roots in ska punk. The band is recognized for their strong DIY (Do-It-Yourself) ethic, which has been a cornerstone of their operations throughout their career.
History
Against All Authority was formed in 1992 in Cutler Ridge, Florida. The band was driven by a desire to spread their message, which focused on “questioning our economic differences and promoting our human similarities.” Their lyrics frequently address political and social issues, and they maintain a fiercely independent stance, drawing inspiration from bands like the Dead Kennedys and Subhumans.
From the beginning, Against All Authority embraced the DIY approach, handling everything from booking their own concerts to producing their recordings and even making their band merchandise. This independent spirit has been a defining feature of the band’s identity.
