Belvedere

Belvedere is a Canadian punk rock band originating from Calgary and Edmonton, Canada, formed in 1995. The band took their name from an ’80s sitcom and quickly established a melodic pop-punk sound inspired by acts like Bad Religion and NOFX.
History
Formation and Early Years (1995–2000)
Belvedere began in Calgary as a three-piece band featuring Steve Rawles on guitar and vocals, Brock on bass, and Dan Hrynuik on drums. As their lineup evolved, they maintained a consistent sound, eventually adding a second guitarist, Scott Marshall, drummer Jay Hollywood, and bassist Jason Sinclair. This quartet released their debut album, Because No One Stopped Us, in 1998 through Hourglass and 206 Records. Following extensive touring in 1999, including shows with Bad Religion and Strung Out, they released their second album, Angels Live in My Town, in early 2000 on Jump Start Records.
Continued Growth and Breakup (2001–2005)
In 2001, Belvedere released Twas Hell Said Former Child on Jump Start Records and Union 2112, coinciding with their first European tour. They continued to release music, including a split record Hometown Advantage with Downway in 2003, and recorded Fast Forward Eats the Tape with producer Blair Calibaba. The band played shows with acts like Death by Stereo and Tsunami Bomb, but eventually broke up in late 2005 after a final hometown show in Calgary. Some members, such as Steve Rawles and Graham Churchill, went on to form a new project called This is a Standoff in 2007.
Reunion and Recent Activities (2011–present)
After a seven-year hiatus, Belvedere reunited for a 2012 tour that spanned Canada, South America, and Europe. In November 2015, the band announced work on a new album and a lineup change, with Casey Lewis replacing Graham Churchill on drums. Their fifth studio album, The Revenge of the Fifth, was released on April 30, 2016.
By late 2019, longtime members Jason Sinclair and Scott Marshall departed due to creative differences. In 2021, Belvedere released Hindsight Is the Sixth Sense, with Dan Wollach and Ryan Mumby stepping in on guitar and bass. The band continues to evolve while remaining rooted in their punk rock origins.
