Heart Attack Man
Heart Attack Man is a band from Cleveland, Ohio that took anxious lyrics, punchy riffs, and a sense of dark humor on the road and slowly pushed their songs from small clubs to international tours.
From Solo Project To Full Band
The project began in 2013 with vocalist and guitarist Eric Egan writing songs that pulled from punk, indie, and alternative rock. Partnering with drummer Adam Paduch, he turned those early ideas into a working band based in the Cleveland area. The name Heart Attack Man fit the way the songs balanced jittery energy with self aware storytelling. :contentReference[oaicite:18]{index=18}
In 2014 the band released the EP Acid Rain, which introduced their sound through sharp guitar work and lyrics that leaned into frustration and sarcasm. Guitarist Josh Voland joined in this early period, helping fill out the live lineup and early tours. :contentReference[oaicite:19]{index=19}
First Album And Growing Pains
Heart Attack Man’s debut full length, The Manson Family, arrived in 2017 on Triple Crown Records. The album mixed heavy, sometimes sludgy riffs with catchy vocal lines and stories about isolation, anger, and modern life going sideways. Around the same time, longtime friends guitarist Ty Sickels and bassist Seamus Groman joined the band to handle live duties, making the project feel more like a stable four piece. :contentReference[oaicite:20]{index=20}
In 2018 they released a split with fellow Ohio band McCafferty. When serious allegations surfaced against McCafferty’s singer, Heart Attack Man moved quickly to distance themselves from the collaboration. They separated their songs from the split in digital stores and issued alternate artwork that removed McCafferty, a rare case of a band actively pulling themselves out of a problematic release rather than just ignoring it. :contentReference[oaicite:21]{index=21}
Fake Blood And National Tours
Late in 2018 the band headed to The Barbershop Recording Studio in Hopatcong, New Jersey to track their second full length with producer Brett Romnes. The resulting album, Fake Blood, came out on April 19, 2019, again through Triple Crown Records. The record tightened up their songwriting, blended aggressive and melodic sections more smoothly, and gave them a batch of songs that worked well on stage. :contentReference[oaicite:22]{index=22}
By then Heart Attack Man were touring extensively across the United States and Canada, joining runs with groups like Drug Church and Gouge Away. Bassist Seamus Groman left the band in mid 2019 after headlining shows and dates opening for Taking Back Sunday. The bass role later shifted to Logan McNeal, who joined around 2020 as the band moved into another cycle of writing and touring. :contentReference[oaicite:23]{index=23}
Through late 2019 and into 2020, Heart Attack Man kept stacking up support slots. They announced a run with Boston Manor and later a tour with Knuckle Puck. As live music returned after pandemic shutdowns, they released the EP Thoughtz & Prayerz in 2021 and supported Neck Deep on a U.S. tour. :contentReference[oaicite:24]{index=24}
Freak Of Nature And International Reach
By 2022 the band had finished their contract with Triple Crown Records and decided to move forward independently. They embarked on their first headlining run, the “Thoughtz & Prayerz Across North America” tour, followed by U.K. and mainland Europe dates supporting State Champs. Later they spent time on the road with Blackbear and Tigers Jaw, widening their audience beyond strictly punk circles. :contentReference[oaicite:25]{index=25}
After these tours, Heart Attack Man recorded their third full length with producer Lil Aaron, marking the first time they created an album outside the Triple Crown framework. Bassist Logan McNeal left prior to the record’s release, returning the core back to Egan, Sickels, and Paduch. :contentReference[oaicite:26]{index=26}
In 2023 they released Freak of Nature and launched the “Freak of NaTOUR” across North America, followed immediately by their first U.K. headlining run, cheekily titled “FreU.K. Of NaTOUR.” Fall 2023 saw them supporting Hot Mulligan on an album release tour, then heading back to the U.K. and Europe in early 2024 to support Spanish Love Songs. By then Heart Attack Man had fully stepped into the role of a band that tours constantly and pulls fans from both pop punk and alternative spaces. :contentReference[oaicite:27]{index=27}
