Sedes

Sedes stands as one of the earliest Polish punk rock bands

Sedes stands as one of the earliest Polish punk rock bands, having been active since 1980. Formed in 1980 in Wrocław, Sedes swiftly gained popularity within the Wrocław independent scene. Their breakthrough came at the Musical Start preview, where they clinched the first prize. The year 1982 marked their debut at the Jarocin festival, and in 1983, Sedes stood out as the sole punk rock representative on the festival’s main stage.

In 1984, the lineup underwent changes as Kucharz left, making way for Celej, and Maju transitioned to bass guitar. The band, despite internal shifts, continued touring, culminating in another notable appearance at the Jarocin festival. Unfortunately, in 1985, Sedes decided to disband.

Amid numerous attempts to revive the band, Młody successfully reassembled Sedes in 1991. The revitalized lineup included Młody (vocals), Rudy (drums), Para (bass guitar), and Wojtek (guitar). They made a triumphant return at Jarocin in 1992 and embarked on a tour with Defekt Muzgó, delivering over 50 concerts. Their inaugural album, Wszyscy pokutujemy, was released on MC in 1992.

The subsequent release, K… jego mać, followed in 1993, with the remastered CD version of their debut album. Following Para’s departure, Młody assumed bass duties in 1993. The band continued to thrive, releasing a live album in 1993 and Sraka praptaka in 1994. In late 1995, Sedes embarked on a tour with Big Cyc.

Since the release of Delirium in 1997, Sedes has primarily focused on live performances. A “Best of” compilation album, titled Lekcja Historii, was released in 2004.
