Student Rick, hailing from South Bend, Indiana, was an emo band that emerged with a distinctive sound in the late ’90s. Comprising Adam Reiter (guitar/vocals), Brett Jones (guitar/vocals), Jason Pavilanis (bass), and Zach Davis (drums), the band gained recognition for their emotional tunes, notably “Falling for You” from the Victory Records release Soundtrack for a Generation.

Early Years (1998-00)

In the late ’90s, Adam Reiter and Brett Jones, brought together by a shared passion for music, set the foundation for Student Rick. Initially joined by Allan Adams and Bryce Dudka, the band recorded their 6-track demo tape in 2000. However, after some lineup changes, Jason Pavilanis and Zach Davis joined as bassist and drummer, respectively.

Demos, EP, and Soundtrack for a Generation (2001)

With a stable lineup, Student Rick played shows and garnered attention with their song “October Skies.” This led to a deal with Victory Records, and in October 2001, they released their debut album, Soundtrack for a Generation. The album featured re-recorded tracks from their EP and new compositions. The band toured extensively, including the Victory Records Tour in 2002.

Warped Tour and Break-up (2002)

Following the release of Soundtrack for a Generation, Student Rick participated in the 2002 Vans Warped Tour. However, creative differences and personal reasons led to bassist Jason Pavilanis leaving, and drummer Zach Davis departing due to an injury and personal differences. In November 2002, Student Rick decided to part ways.

Reformations and Current Activity (2002–present)

After the breakup, Adam Reiter formed the band Eiffel ReV in 2003 with members of Sweetheart Revolution. Later, alongside former Hello Vegas member Jesse Gurtis, Reiter established Say Say. Meanwhile, Hello Vegas, featuring Adam, Jason, and Zach from Student Rick, disbanded in 2012.
