E!E is a Czech punk rock band from Příbram, founded in 1987. The group is known for its high-energy performances and has been a staple of the Czech punk scene for over three decades. The current lineup features Bořivoj “Bořek” Řehoř (vocals), Petr Bakalerov (lead guitar and vocals), Petr Stawarz (guitar), Petr Mottl (bass), and Roman Vojtíšek (drums).

History

E!E was formed in 1987 in Příbram, Czechoslovakia, originally comprising Robert Kyselo on drums, Vilda Řapek on bass and vocals, Petr “Bakča” Bakalerov on guitar and vocals, and Miroslav Bergerstein on accordion and vocals. The band played its first live show in 1988. Later that year, both Řapek and Bergerstein left the band, and Bořivoj “Bořek” Řehoř joined as a bassist before moving to lead vocals. Petr “Motlík” Mottl took over on bass.

Their first cassette, Obyčejní poserové, was recorded in 1988. After this, Bakalerov relocated to Písek, leading to a temporary lineup change. Guitarist Ladislav Havlík joined, but the band continued performing under both the E!E and Hilfe Schule names before eventually merging both projects. Petr Stawarz joined as a guitarist in 1991, and drummer Roman Vojtíšek came aboard in 1992, finalizing the band’s classic lineup.

E!E went on to release several albums, starting with 0001 in 1992, followed by Poslouchej (1993), Mrtvák (1995), and Deska (1996). On 7 July 1996, the band opened for the Sex Pistols in Prague at the Sportovní hala.

In 1998, the band released Děláme co můžem, followed by a re-recording of 26 older tracks with their former vocalist Bořek. The compilation was titled Dvacet pe!ecek + bonus. They continued releasing music, with Lepší už to nebude in 2006 and 2012 in 2012.

In December 2013, founding member Petr Bakalerov passed away. The band honored him with a commemorative concert, and Robin Davídek has since stepped in as a guest guitarist. In 2017, E!E celebrated 30 years with the release of the compilation E!E 30 let panknrolu a chlastu.
