Initially performing under different band names, they eventually settled on Blink after legal issues forced a name change. Early recordings like the Flyswatter demo and the Buddha EP captured their raw energy and melodic punk roots, laying the foundation for their future success.

Breakthrough and Mainstream Success (1995–2004)

The band’s debut album Cheshire Cat (1995) introduced their fast-paced, catchy style. Their breakthrough came with the major-label release Enema of the State (1999), which produced hit singles like “What’s My Age Again?” and “All the Small Things.” Follow-up albums Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001) and the self-titled Blink-182 (2003) solidified their place in the mainstream, thanks to their polished pop-punk sound, memorable music videos, and relentless touring. The band’s blend of youthful angst, humor, and sincerity resonated with a wide audience, making them one of the best-selling rock acts of their era.

Hiatus, Reunion, and Recent Developments (2005–Present)

After a hiatus beginning in 2005 due to internal tensions and personal projects, the band reunited in 2009 and resumed touring. They experienced another lineup change when Matt Skiba replaced Tom DeLonge from 2015 to 2022, contributing to albums California (2016) and Nine (2019). In 2022, Tom DeLonge returned to the band, and Blink-182 continued to thrive, releasing their ninth studio album, One More Time… in 2023. Their music evolved while maintaining the catchy, fast-paced punk spirit that defined their early work.
