Civet
Civet is an American punk rock band from Long Beach, California. They are signed to Hellcat Records and have recorded six releases, with the latest being Love & War (2011).
History
The self-described “femme fatale punk rock” band made a breakthrough after signing with Hellcat Records and releasing their first album under the label, Hell Hath No Fury. In a November 2008 interview, lead singer Liza Graves revealed that the band underwent several lineup changes;first, the previous rhythm section (Jackie Daniels on bass and Bombshell Brenz on drums) was replaced by Jacqui Valentine on bass and Cat Scandal on drums, with Cat Scandal later being replaced by Danni Harrowyn. There was no formal announcement when Danni Harrowyn was replaced by Roxie Darling. In November 2010, during a tour opening for Nashville Pussy, both Jacqui Valentine and Roxie Darling quit the band, and the tour was completed with friends filling in. In January 2011, the band announced via Myspace that their new album, Love & War, was set for release on February 22, 2011, on Hellcat Records.
Influences and Style
Civet’s musical style has been compared to bands like The Distillers, Bikini Kill, the Runaways, and Motörhead on rock’n’roll cocaine. They state that their biggest influence comes from The Runaways. The band has toured with Social Distortion, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Street Dogs, Flogging Molly, and Dropkick Murphys.
