Crime In Stereo
Crime in Stereo is a hardcore punk band from Long Island, New York. Formed in 2001, the band gained recognition with their energetic sound and distinctive releases. Over the years, they have released four full-length albums and a compilation, working with labels like Blackout!, Nitro, and Bridge Nine. After disbanding in 2010, the band re-formed in 2012, releasing a track in 2021 and their fifth full-length album, House & Trance, in October 2023 through Pure Noise Records.
How The Band Got Started
Crime in Stereo was formed in 2001 by a group of friends from Long Island. The band recorded a homemade demo tape in the same year and quickly gained attention in the local punk scene. In 2003, they released their debut split record with New York’s Kill Your Idols through Blackout! Records. The following year, they dropped their first full-length album, Explosives and the Will to Use Them, on Brightside Records. The album was well-received, especially by punk webzines, earning the band a solid reputation in the punk community. In 2005, the band signed with Nitro Records, owned by Dexter Holland of The Offspring, and released an EP titled The Contract. Later in 2005, they followed up with the Fuel. Transit. Sleep EP, which included tracks that would appear on their next full-length, The Troubled Stateside, released in 2006.
Key Releases and Career Growth
After parting ways with Nitro Records, Crime in Stereo signed with Bridge Nine Records and released their third full-length, Crime in Stereo Is Dead, in 2007. The album, produced by Mike Sapone, showcased the band’s evolving sound. In 2008, they released a collection disc, Selective Wreckage, which featured 10 songs from their earlier years. Their fourth studio album, I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone, was released in February 2010 and charted at number 23 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. However, the band announced their split later that same year. In 2012, Crime in Stereo reformed, and they released a new song, “The Good Empire,” as part of a compilation in 2021. The band returned with their first full-length album in 13 years, House & Trance, in October 2023, marking their comeback on Pure Noise Records.
