Intro5pect

Intro5pect are an American political electropunk band from Southern California, formed in 1997 as a pushback against what they saw as punk getting packaged and sold back to people.

They put out a demo in 1998, then landed their first official release in 1999 when the new indie label Geykido Comet Records issued their song “Education” as a limited edition 7 inch.

Early Releases and the Jump to A-F Records

In 2002, Intro5pect signed with Anti-Flag’s label A-F Records.

A-F released the band’s self-titled full-length in spring 2003. Punknews.org gave the album a five out of five rating.

Touring, Airplay, and a Notable Guest Spot

In June 2007, the band toured the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. Around that time, their demo “War At Home” was played multiple times on BBC Radio 1 by DJ Mike Davies on his punk show, The Lockup.

On October 16, 2007, they released the EP Realpolitik, featuring Stza from Leftöver Crack on vocals.

A Second UK Run and a Lineup Change on the Return

In summer 2008, Intro5pect returned to the United Kingdom for a second tour, this time alongside Moral Dilemma. They also played headline shows, including at the Camden Underworld, and wrapped the tour at White Rabbit in Plymouth with a special performance that included Craig Temple of Moral Dilemma on guitar and Joey Blues of Kill Youth Culture on mandolin.

During the same trip, Mike Davies brought the band into Maida Vale Studios for a live session that aired the following week on BBC Radio 1.

After the tour, the band and bassist Gregg split due to creative differences. LandonHell joined afterward on bass.

Later Releases and the Return to the Stage

In a 2009 interview with PunkCDSampler, Sara said the next album direction was like the self-titled record “to the extreme.” Later that summer, the EP Record Profits was released.

On February 24, 2019, Intro5pect played their first show since 2011 at the Observatory in Santa Ana, with new singer Dani added to the lineup.

On December 6, 2019, they released “Pro-Control,” their first new track since 2009’s Record Profits.
