Blue Meanies

Blue Meanies are an American ska-core band founded in 1989 at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. They are known for their energetic performances and contributions to the ska-core genre, blending ska with punk rock influences.
History
Formed in 1989, the Blue Meanies emerged from the college party circuit in Carbondale. Their early years were marked by several lineup changes, but their sound remained consistent through their first four albums, including Peace Love Groove (1991) and Kiss Your Ass Goodbye (1995). They participated in notable tours such as the 1998 Ska Against Racism tour.
Later, the band signed with MCA Records, marking a shift into a more commercial phase with their album The Post Wave in 2000. After regaining rights to their music and reissuing albums on Thick Records, they eventually ceased touring. The Blue Meanies reunited for special events, including Riot Fest in 2006 and 2014, continuing to influence the ska-core scene.
