Bold
Bold (originally Crippled Youth) is an American hardcore punk band from Katonah, New York, formed in 1985. They played a significant role in the late ’80s straight edge hardcore scene, influencing youth crew aesthetics and sound.
History
Originally named Crippled Youth, the band changed their name to Bold in the mid-1980s. They released material on independent labels like Revelation Records, including the LP Speak Out in 1988. Bold became known for their straightforward hardcore punk sound and their influence on the straight edge movement.
Throughout their career, the band experienced lineup changes and a few hiatuses. They reunited in 2005 and performed at various festivals, including Revelation Records’ anniversary shows. While not consistently active, Bold’s legacy endures through their early work and influence on the hardcore scene.
