Bracket blends pop punk with power pop harmonies

Bracket is an American rock band from Forestville, California, formed in 1992. Known for their power pop-influenced punk rock sound and vocal harmonies, the band emerged during the early 1990s pop punk resurgence.

History

Formation and Early Years

Founded by Marty Gregori, Larry Tinney, Zack Charlos, and Ray Castro, Bracket began as High Output, playing cover songs before adopting their signature pop punk style. In 1992, the group reformed under the name Bracket, self-released an EP in 1993, and quickly built a following with their debut album 924 Forestville St. in 1994 on Caroline Records.

Evolution Through the ’90s

After being dropped by Caroline Records, Bracket released their second album 4-Wheel Vibe (1995), which showcased catchy, quirky power pop elements. Despite setbacks with the shelved album Like You Know, they found success signing with Fat Wreck Chords, releasing albums Novelty Forever (1997) and When All Else Fails (2000).

Later Years and Recent Activity

Bracket continued to evolve, recording the ambitious concept album Requiem in 2006. They later released Hold Your Applause in 2014 and The Last Page in 2016, a 70-minute track that expanded their experimental edge. As of 2019, the band announced the release of Too Old to Die Young, reflecting their continued relevance in the pop punk scene.
