Brazilian punk band Cólera

Cólera is a Brazilian punk rock band from São Paulo, formed in October 1979 by brothers Redson (guitar and lead vocals) and Pierre (drums) along with their friend Val (bass guitar). One of the longest-running punk bands in Brazil, they have maintained a storied career spanning 45 years and toured Europe on several occasions.

History

Cólera was founded in October 1979 by siblings Redson and Pierre, with Val on bass. The band quickly became a key figure in the Brazilian punk scene, releasing influential albums and EPs during the 1980s and early 1990s. Their early works, such as Tente Mudar o Amanhã (1985) and Pela Paz Em Todo o Mundo (1986), cemented their reputation. In 2011, founding member Redson tragically died from stomach bleeding, yet the band continued on with a new lineup featuring Wendel Barros on vocals and Fabio Belluci on guitar. In July 2016, their album Pela Paz em Todo o Mundo was honored by Rolling Stone Brasil as the second best Brazilian punk rock album, and their later work, Acorde! Acorde! Acorde! (2018), received accolades from art critics.
