Consumed
Consumed is an English punk rock band formed in 1992 on the outskirts of Nottingham. Originally signed to Fat Wreck Chords, the band later moved to BYO Records and Golf Records before the release of their album *Pistols at Dawn*. Known for their high-energy sound, Consumed toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, the U.S., and Canada, and made regular appearances at surf and skate festivals in the mid-to-late 1990s.
Origins and Early Years
The band’s origins trace back to 1989 when they initially formed as *Desecrator*, a death metal band that released an album titled *Subconscious Release* in 1991. After evolving into Consumed in 1992, the band shifted gears towards a punk rock style and quickly began to make a name for themselves. Their music, fast-paced and gritty, resonated with fans of punk and hardcore across the globe.
Impact in Pop Culture
A major milestone in their career came when the track “Heavy Metal Winner” was included in the 2000 video game *Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2*. The track made a comeback in the HD version, *Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD*, in 2012 and was later added to the 2020 remake *Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2*. Additionally, the song appeared in the 2002 video game *Totaled!*, cementing the band’s presence in punk culture and video game history.
Hiatus and Reunion
Despite breaking up in 2003, Consumed reunited in 2015 and has since been active. They released a video for their track “What Would Cliff Burton Do?” in May 2018. Their latest release, *A Decade of No*, an EP, came out in July 2018 through SBÄM Records in Europe and Umlaut Records in the UK, marking a return to the punk scene after a long hiatus.
