Ho99o9

Ho99o9 is a Newark formed duo known for chaotic live shows

Ho99o9, pronounced Horror, is a duo that formed in Newark, New Jersey in 2012 and later relocated to Los Angeles. Built by theOGM and Yeti Bones, also known as Eaddy, the project blends abrasive sounds, confrontational visuals, and high energy performances that quickly set them apart. Their early rise included major press attention, festival appearances around the world, and a run of releases that leaned hard into dark imagery and raw presentation.

Where It Started

TheOGM was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and raised in Linden, while Eaddy grew up in Newark. Both were involved in the same performing arts collective known as NJstreetKLAN, sometimes called the JerseyKLAN. That shared background eventually led them to form Ho99o9 in Newark in 2012.

In their teens, both members gravitated toward hip hop, spending time with artists like DMX and Bone Thugs n Harmony. As they got older, their interests expanded into underground punk shows in Brooklyn, where they encountered acts such as Japanther, Cerebral Ballzy, and The Death Set. They also crossed paths with artists like Ninjasonik and Theophilus London through local art shows, which helped shape the project’s direction.

Early Attention and Rapid Momentum

By 2014 Ho99o9 had relocated to Los Angeles and were already drawing serious attention. That year they appeared at the Afropunk Festival and were highlighted by both Rolling Stone and The Guardian as a new act worth watching. Their music videos leaned heavily into grindhouse imagery, matching the aggressive feel of their songs.

Festival slots followed quickly. They performed at SXSW in 2015 and Primavera Sound in 2016. A performance at Primavera caught the attention of New York Times critic Jon Pareles, who described it as a welcome charge of adrenaline. Around the same time, the duo toured parts of Europe including London, Paris, Brighton, and Amsterdam, with added support from DJs on BBC Radio 1.

Touring Hard and Expanding the Reach

Throughout 2015 Ho99o9 appeared at major European festivals such as Eurockéennes, OFF Festival, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, Pop Kultur Berlin, Iceland Airwaves, and Reading and Leeds. Their live reputation continued to grow, driven by chaotic sets that leaned into physical movement and crowd interaction.

In November 2014 they were featured on Last Call with Carson Daly, which included a segment dedicated to the group and a live performance. Around that time they also collaborated with director Bryan Ray Turcotte and photographer Estevan Oriol on the video for Casey Jones and Cum Rag, which premiered at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

High Profile Collaborations and Bigger Stages

In June 2015 Ho99o9 were announced as performers at the Gathering of the Juggalos. They continued touring the UK, headlining in Brighton and supporting Slaves in cities like Newcastle and Birmingham. Their reputation as an unpredictable live act only grew.

At the end of 2016 it was announced that Ho99o9 would support The Dillinger Escape Plan on the band’s final UK tour in January 2017. During that run, Eaddy became known for throwing himself directly into the crowd, sometimes landing on heads before charging through the audience. Later that year the duo appeared on the Earache Records stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Albums, Features, and Crossovers

Their debut studio album United States of Horror was released on May 5, 2017. In 2018 the group launched the North American Lights Out tour alongside 3Teeth and Street Sects. That same year The Prodigy released the single Fight Fire with Fire featuring Ho99o9.

Ho99o9 continued appearing on larger tours, opening for acts such as Three Days Grace, Prophets of Rage, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Alice in Chains, and Underoath. In December 2020 their track Pig Dinner, created with N8NOFACE, appeared in the video game Cyberpunk 2077 where the duo also performed as the in game band N1v3Z.

They were featured on the song Paralyze by 3Teeth in August 2021. Their second album SKIN arrived on March 11, 2022. In November 2025 they opened for grandson in Philadelphia. Their third album Tomorrow We Escape was released on September 9, 2025.

Sound and Presentation

Critics often point to Ho99o9’s mix of punk aggression and hip hop delivery, with a heavy emphasis on industrial textures and confrontational pacing. Writers have frequently mentioned the project’s cinematic leanings, along with comparisons to acts like Black Flag and Death Grips. The result is music that prioritizes intensity, tension, and immediacy over polish.
