International Robot

Minneapolis punk band International Robot formed in 2000

International Robot were a punk band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 2000, and built around players who later turned up across a long list of local groups.

Every member went on to other Minneapolis bands, including The Soviettes, The Awesome Snakes, France Has The Bomb, the Dummies, the Prostitutes, the Voltz, the Dynamiters, Die Electric!, and Dirty Robbers.

International Robot and many of those related bands were covered by City Pages, the local weekly paper focused on music and culture.

Where the Name Came From

The band’s name was taken from a song title by The Saints, an Australian band that formed in the late 1970s.

  • Brian Shuey, guitar and vocals; later played in the Dynamiters, The Voltz, Die Electric!, and the Prostitutes
  • Morgan “Slo Mo” Kinnaman, bass; later played in Dirty Robbers
  • Danny Henry, drums and vocals; later played in The Soviettes, The Awesome Snakes, France Has The Bomb, and the Dummies (as “Rock Bottom”)
  • Annie Holoien, bass; later played in The Soviettes, The Awesome Snakes, and God Damn Doo Wop Band
