LiveonRelease

LiveonRelease were a Vancouver pop punk band active from 2000 to 2003

LiveonRelease was a Canadian all-girl pop punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia. Formed in 2000, the band stayed active for a short, busy run and broke up in 2003. Their name, LiveonRelease, came from basketball jargon, a detail that fit their punchy, quick-moving identity.

In 2002, LiveonRelease released their first album, Seeing Red. The record included the singles “I’m Afraid of Britney Spears,” “Get With It,” and “Emotional Griptape.” “I’m Afraid of Britney Spears” also appeared on the Dude, Where’s My Car? soundtrack, giving the band a wider pop-culture moment beyond their own releases.

The band followed quickly with a second album in 2003 titled Goes on a Fieldtrip. That release included the single “Let’s Go.” The album was produced by Peter Karroll and Doug Fury Inc, with Bif Naked serving as executive producer, and it was mixed by Shaun Thingvold. Not long after Goes on a Fieldtrip came out, LiveonRelease disbanded, closing out their career as a tight early-2000s chapter in Canadian pop punk.
