Look Back And Laugh
Look Back and Laugh was an American hardcore punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area. The band leaned into an 1980s-style approach and took its name from a Minor Threat song title.
How the band got started
Look Back and Laugh formed with members connected to Yaphett Kotto, Dead and Gone, Destroy, Talk Is Poison, and Lesser of Two. The project began as a hobby. The idea was simple: keep making music without letting a band schedule take over the rest of their lives.
Even with that lower-pressure setup, they moved fast. Over roughly three years, they released three full-length albums and put music out through Ebullition and Lengua Armada Discos.
Sound and approach
The band played a mix of 1980s-style hardcore punk and Southern California thrashcore. That direction was picked to match the members’ early influences. Their name doubled as a mission statement, pointing both to the literal phrase and the Minor Threat reference.
