I Prevail is an American rock band formed in Southfield, Michigan, in 2013. They released their debut EP Heart vs. Mind in 2014 and gained significant attention with a metal cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” which was eventually certified platinum in the US. The band has released three studio albums: Lifelines (2016), Trauma (2019), and True Power (2022). I Prevail has found success with their original material as well, including Grammy nominations for the single “Bow Down” and the album Trauma.

History

Formation, Breakthrough, Heart vs. Mind EP (2014–2016)

I Prevail was formed in late 2013. On December 1, 2014, the band posted a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” to YouTube. It peaked at number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number 23 on the US Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The cover was certified platinum in 2019. The band released their debut EP, Heart vs. Mind, on December 17, 2014. In 2015, rhythm guitarist Jordan Berger left the band, and new members Tony Camposeo and Dylan Bowman were added. The band toured extensively in support of the EP, including opening for Crown the Empire, Hollywood Undead, and Pop Evil.

Lifelines and Touring (2016–2019)

In 2016, I Prevail announced their debut album Lifelines, which was released on October 21, 2016. The album’s first single, “Scars,” was released in July 2016, followed by “Stuck in Your Head” and “Come and Get It.” The band supported the album with tours alongside Pierce the Veil, Neck Deep, and others. In December 2016, bassist Tony Camposeo left the band to focus on producing music. The band continued to tour and perform at major festivals, including Vans Warped Tour 2017.

Trauma (2019–2022)

On February 19, 2019, I Prevail announced their album Trauma, released on March 29, 2019. The album featured singles such as “Bow Down,” “Breaking Down,” and “Paranoid.” Trauma debuted as the fourth-best selling album of the week in the US. The album’s success led to two Grammy nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Metal Performance. The band supported A Day to Remember on their “Degenerates” tour and continued touring extensively in support of Trauma.

True Power (2022–present)

On June 17, 2022, I Prevail released the single “Body Bag,” the lead single for their third studio album True Power, which was released on August 19, 2022. The band followed up with singles “Bad Things” and “Self-Destruction.” They embarked on the True Power Tour from September to November 2022, concluding in Detroit, Michigan. In 2023, the band released additional singles and music videos, including “There’s Fear In Letting Go” and “Deep End.”
