Jeff Rosenstock is a Long Island musician known for Bomb the Music Industry! and solo albums

Jeff Rosenstock is a musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Long Island, New York. He first came up through punk and ska-adjacent projects, then built a long solo run alongside ongoing band work.

He is linked closely to The Arrogant Sons of Bitches and Bomb the Music Industry!, and he later composed music for the animated series Craig of the Creek. He also founded Quote Unquote Records, a label built around a donation-based, pay-what-you-want approach for digital releases.

Growing Up on Long Island

Rosenstock was raised in Baldwin on Long Island. His sister is TV writer and playwright Kim Rosenstock.

First Bands and the Road to Bomb the Music Industry!

In 1995, he started The Arrogant Sons of Bitches. As that band was coming apart in 2004, he recorded a solo track using the name Bomb the Music Industry, which then became his next main project.

After the first full-length Bomb the Music Industry! release, Album Minus Band, he launched Quote Unquote Records and used it to distribute music digitally with a pay-what-you-want model.

Solo Releases and Album Run

Rosenstock moved into a more direct solo lane in 2012 with I Look Like Shit, released shortly after Bomb the Music Industry! announced plans to end.

In 2013, he ran the Summer Seven Club project, built around the 7-inch single “Summer,” with additional songs released to purchasers over the following months. Those tracks were later collected as Summer +.

His first solo studio album, We Cool?, arrived in 2015. He followed it with Worry. on October 14, 2016, then Post- on January 1, 2018.

No Dream was released on May 20, 2020. A ska version, Ska Dream, followed on April 20, 2021. His fifth studio album, Hellmode, was released worldwide on August 31, 2023, one day earlier than the announced September 1 date.

Other Bands, Collaborations, and Production Work

Alongside his solo output, Rosenstock has performed with other punk and ska bands, including Mustard Plug, The Bruce Lee Band, and AJJ. He has also performed with Bomb the Music Industry! bandmates Laura Stevenson and Lee Hartney.

He has produced recordings for artists including Mikey Erg, The Smith Street Band, Laura Stevenson, and Dan Andriano.

He is part of Antarctigo Vespucci, a project with Chris Farren, and has been a member of The Bruce Lee Band alongside Mike Park since 2014. He has also worked under the band name Death Rosenstock.

Music for Craig of the Creek

Since 2018, Rosenstock has composed music for the Cartoon Network series Craig of the Creek.

He released a cover of the show’s theme song on the 2019 live album Thanks, Sorry!, performed by his solo band as Death Rosenstock.

In 2020, the show released its first full musical episode, for which he wrote the music and lyrics, and the soundtrack was released later that year.

The soundtrack album for the animated film Craig Before the Creek was released in 2024, with Rosenstock again credited for writing the music and lyrics.

Tour Notes

In September 2023, Rosenstock and other members of his band contracted COVID-19 and postponed upcoming dates on their 2023 to 2024 North American tour for Hellmode.
