Hightower

Paris band Hightower packed two albums

Hightower is a band from Paris that took 1990s-style punk energy, loud guitars, and gruff vocals and pushed them through two tightly produced studio albums. Between 2013 and 2021 they moved from rehearsal rooms in France to studios in California and tours across Europe and the UK.

How The Band Got Started

Hightower formed in 2013 when cousins Romain Mariani and Jérémie Lombard decided to start a band together in Paris. They had grown up listening to punk from the 1990s, and they wanted to write songs that carried that same punch without feeling like simple nostalgia.

Romain took the drums and Jérémie handled guitar. They soon filled out the lineup with Alexis Calvi on bass, Benjamin Dubois on guitar, and Vincent Crespel on vocals. Once the group clicked, they focused on writing material that combined heavy vocals with strong melodic lines, giving their songs both weight and hooks.

Sure. Fine. Whatever. And Early Tours

In 2014, Hightower traveled to The Omen Room Studio in Los Angeles, California to record their debut album Sure. Fine. Whatever. The record was produced by Steve Evetts, who helped capture the band’s mix of aggression and melody in a polished but still sharp-sounding way.

Sure. Fine. Whatever. came out in 2015 on vinyl and CD through Knives Out Records. After its release, Hightower toured Europe and the UK to support the album. They also played shows across France, often sharing stages with visiting bands from the United States, which helped them reach new listeners outside their home city.

Club Dragon And The Band’s Split

Hightower returned to The Omen Room Studio in late 2016 to record their second album, Club Dragon, again working with Steve Evetts. This time, vocalist Attila Racz handled the singing, giving the songs a fresh edge while keeping the band’s core approach intact.

On May 9, 2017, Hightower signed with Krod Records for the European release of Club Dragon. The first single, “The Party,” arrived on May 22, setting the tone for the album’s mix of big choruses and driving guitars. Club Dragon was scheduled for a September 2017 release and appeared in multiple formats, including LP, CD, tapes, and digital downloads through Krod Records and Joe Cool Records.

Through this period, the band continued to tour and promote their work. Eventually, after several years of activity around these two albums and related shows, Hightower split in 2021, closing a focused chapter that still left behind a solid set of recordings.
