Le Shok were an American electropunk band from Long Beach, California, active from 1997 into early 2001, known for a run of 7 inch releases, one full length album, and two U.S. tours before later reuniting for a few shows in 2018.

How the band came together

Le Shok formed in 1997, originally using the name Shock. The starting lineup was Asshole Andrew (Treadwell) on guitar, Joey Juvenile (The Locust) on drums, and Hot Rod Todd on vocals. After hearing a rehearsal tape, Darryl Licht (Action League) joined on keyboards, and Over the Counter Rusty (Treadwell) joined on bass.

Early releases and the album

The band released four 7 inch records on various labels. In 2000, Gold Standard Laboratories released their only full length album, We Are Electrocution, and Le Shok went out on a nationwide tour of the United States.

Lineup shifts and the end of the first run

Shitty Shaan, who had filled in for Darryl Licht at shows he could not make, was later added full time as a second guitarist. When Darryl left the band, Shaan switched to keyboards. Recordings made while the group was a six piece later showed up across various vinyl releases.

After Andrew left, Shaan took over guitar duties and John Fones of Tunigs joined on keyboards. Following the band’s second U.S. tour, Fones left, and Darryl briefly returned. Shaan then quit, and the band ended in early 2001.

Projects after the breakup

After Le Shok split, members went on to play in other bands, including Nazti Skinz, Neon King Kong, The Distraction, T-Cells, FM Bats, God’s Iron Tooth, Sex Powers, Rats in the Louvre, and Dirty Girls.

Reunion shows

The band played several reunion shows in 2018.
