Citizen Fish are an English punk rock band from Bath

Citizen Fish are an English punk rock band from Bath, known for their socially aware and optimistic lyrics. They share members with Subhumans and focus on themes like anti-consumerism and vegetarianism.

History

Formed in 1990, Citizen Fish originally featured Dick Lucas on vocals, Jasper on bass, Trotsky on drums, and Larry on guitar. After the release of their debut album Free Souls in a Trapped Environment, Larry departed and was replaced by Phil, who had previously played with Subhumans alongside Dick and Trotsky. Additionally, Jasper and Dick had earlier collaborated in Culture Shock.

In July 2006, Silas (formerly of the band Cooper S) took over drums from Trotsky. The following month, after a five-year hiatus from recording, the band returned to the studio to work on a split album with New York’s Leftöver Crack, titled Deadline.

Their eighth studio album, Goods (2011), was hailed as a return to form. Citizen Fish remain active in the scene, having released the Manmade EP in 2015.
