Closet Monster

Closet Monster is a Canadian punk rock band from Ajax, Ontario, formed in 1997. Known for their politically charged, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and energetic touring, they became a notable act on the Canadian punk scene.

History

Closet Monster was formed at Pickering High School in 1997 by Mark Spicoluk; who also founded the Underground Operations record label; and Jesse Colburn, who later performed with Avril Lavigne’s band. The band’s final show with their most recent lineup was on December 8, 2005 at the Phoenix in Toronto, sharing the stage with label mates such as Dead Letter Dept and Protest The Hero. They garnered attention through tours in Canada, the United States, and Europe, including dates on the Warped Tour, and contributed to the success of Underground Operations. The band reunited for a one-off show at Wakestock Festival in 2009 and, before their final disbandment, Underground Operations released an anthological compilation titled Suicide Note of their work.
