Creeper

Creeper is an English rock band formed in 2014

Creeper is an English rock band formed in 2014 in Southampton. The band’s early lineup included Will Gould (vocals), Ian Miles (guitar), Sina Nemati (guitar), Sean Scott (bass), and Dan Bratton (drums). Their music blends gothic rock, punk, and post-hardcore influences, with a focus on theatrical performances and concept-driven storytelling. Creeper’s sound has evolved throughout their career, gaining recognition for their dynamic approach to rock music.

How The Band Got Started

Creeper was formed in 2014 by Will Gould and Ian Miles, who had previously been in the punk rock band Our Time Down Here. The band’s original concept was to create a New Romantic-inspired dark wave sound, but over time it transformed into a more punk-influenced style. The band’s name, Creeper, was chosen by Gould because it sounded like the title of a Stephen King novel and didn’t imply a specific genre. The band initially released their self-titled debut EP independently in 2014, which was later re-released on vinyl. They played their first headline show in August 2014 and quickly gained a following, playing alongside Funeral for a Friend and appearing in London. Creeper signed with Roadrunner Records in 2015 and began touring extensively. Their second EP, *The Callous Heart*, was released in September 2015.

Breakthrough and *Eternity, in Your Arms*

In 2016, after some lineup changes, Creeper released their third EP, *The Stranger*, which entered the UK Albums Chart at number 130. They also contributed covers of Iron Maiden and My Chemical Romance songs to various tribute albums. In October 2016, they announced their debut full-length album *Eternity, in Your Arms*, which was released in March 2017. The album debuted at number 18 on the UK Albums Chart and number 1 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. The band toured extensively to promote the album, including support slots with Pierce the Veil and Letlive in the UK and Europe. Creeper’s theatrical performances and story-driven approach to songwriting gained them further recognition in the rock scene. At the end of 2016, the band was named Best British Newcomer by Rock Sound and gained multiple award nominations.

Hiatus and Return with *Sex, Death & the Infinite Void*

After extensive touring, Creeper took a year-long break. They returned in 2020 with their second studio album *Sex, Death & the Infinite Void*, which debuted at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. The album follows the narrative of Roe, an angel who falls in love with a human woman named Annabelle, and was a thematic continuation of the band’s penchant for storytelling in their music. The album incorporated elements of rock and roll, gothic rock, and glam rock, further refining their sound. After the album’s release, drummer Dan Bratton departed, and Jake Fogarty joined as his replacement. The band continued to tour, including support slots with Neck Deep and All Time Low, and performed at several major festivals.

2021 and *American Noir*

In 2021, Creeper released *American Noir*, an EP that continued the narrative from their previous album. The band also played several festival dates, including at Download and Slam Dunk, and had a busy year despite the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. They also completed their *God Can’t Save Us* tour in late 2022, after multiple delays. At the same time, the band announced a new lineup, with Lawrie Pattison becoming an official member following his time as a touring guitarist. The band was also nominated for several awards, including Best UK Artist and Best UK Live Artist at the Heavy Music Awards.

2023–Present: *Sanguivore* and New Chapter

In 2023, Creeper released their third studio album *Sanguivore*, which debuted at number 29 on the UK Albums Chart. The band continued to promote the album through tours in support of bands like Atreyu, and performed at major festivals including Slam Dunk and Download Festival. In addition to this, the band performed a reworked version of Static Dress’s song “Welcome In…” as part of a special EP. The band has continued to expand its narrative-driven approach, with their performance and music evolving with each release. In early 2024, Creeper continued their support for *Sanguivore* through a series of UK and European tours.
