History
The Beginning (2005–2006)
Broadway Calls formed in the winter of 2005/2006 with Ty Vaughn (guitar and vocals), Matt Koenig (bass and vocals), Robert Baird (guitar), and Josh Baird (drums). Built on the long history of collaboration among Josh, Robert, and Ty, the band quickly made a name for themselves in the hardcore community. After releasing their debut EP Call the Medic on State of Mind Records in late 2005, they hit the road with Daggermouth, setting the stage for years of touring and growth.
Self-Titled Album (2007–2008)
Staying signed to State of Mind Records and later expanding to Smallman Records in Canada, Broadway Calls released their self-titled album on July 10, 2007. Produced by Willie Samuels of Green Day’s production team, the album captured their raw punk energy. The band toured extensively across the U.S., supporting acts like Death Is Not Glamorous and Riot Before, and later signed with Adeline Records in January 2008, which re-released their debut album in March 2008. This period saw lineup changes, with Robert Baird departing to support his family, and the release of a music video for “Call It Off” during a tour with Teenage Bottlerocket.
Good Views, Bad News (2009–2010)
After tours in Europe and the U.S. in early 2009, Broadway Calls signed with Sideone Dummy Records and began work on their second album Good Views, Bad News. Recording at the Blasting Room in Colorado with producer Bill Stevenson, the band refined their sound, resulting in a well-received album released on August 18, 2009. The single “Be All That You Can’t Be” garnered attention with limited edition vinyl releases and solidified their presence on the punk scene. Tours with bands like Menzingers, support on Warped Tour dates, and participation in various festivals followed, further expanding their audience.
Toxic Kids EP and Sad in the City (2011–present)
In 2011, Broadway Calls recorded a new EP titled Toxic Kids, which preceded their third album. The EP, featuring the track “Horizons And Histories”, was recorded at The Atomic Garden studio. After years of touring and recording, the band released their 2020 album Sad in the City via Red Scare Industries, continuing to influence the punk rock scene with their music and energetic live performances.
